It became official on March 18th (Illinois Primary). I am running for Stephenson County, IL County Board District F on the general election ballot.  Since the official announcement, I have had some entertaining conversations.  Some of the conversations...  

• I didn't know you were running until I saw your name on the local TV station during the primary election.
• When I saw you running via a picture on Facebook, I thought your identity was stolen!
• Now that you made it through the primary, what do you think your chances are? 
• And my favorite question...

Why are you doing this?

Anyone who knows me well knows I'm not a political person. So why am I running for County Board? In the last three years, three different individuals have approached me and asked me if I would consider running for the County Board. After the third request, I have decided to take their advice and pursue it, as it seems that others believe that I would do well on the board.  So now you know the rest of the story as to why I'm doing this. And since I live in a rural area with spotty cellular and broadband service, my campaign focus in 2024 will be on...

I don't know where this path is going, but I'm following my own advice that I share with my clients...I'm staying open and curious.  Who knows where this path is leading me, but I'm sure it will be entertaining!

Throughout the month of February, I have been hearing the same story from everyone I've spoken with...

I've hit a wall and don't know how to get around it!

When I dig a bit deeper, I get the following answer...

I want to create a new life that aligns with my aspirations.

And then when I ask, "What is stopping you?" The old stories appear...

• I will have to set firmer boundaries and say "No".  I don't know if I can do that.
• I can't make money doing what I want to do.
• I don't have the time to pursue my interests.

So, I've decided to draw 3 cards (from my Embracing Your Inner Power deck - pictures below) to help clarify this situation for anyone struggling with hitting a wall and unable to figure out how to move forward.

The Blockage: Book Magic—Where are you living your life from an outdated book? Is it a family book, a community book, or a cultural book? Did you grow up learning to put your own needs last and, therefore, struggle to say no? Were you told "Following Your Dreams" doesn't pay the bills? Do you neglect your own interests, leaving you too exhausted to pursue them at the end of the day?  Name the book that is blocking you from moving forward. Example:  No Fun Until The To-Do List is Done

The Way Through The Blockage: Drivers' Seat—Who is in the driver's seat of your life? Why? Are you avoiding owning your life and letting others choose for you? Are you ready to reclaim the driver's seat of your life? What choice must you make today to put you back in the driver's seat?

The Result: Calmness in Chaos—By taking control of your choices, you can regain calmness, clarity, and discernment, allowing you to make clear decisions about your next steps.
