Since finishing my book, Moxie, in May, I’ve been in what I can only describe as a hibernation state — my own personal winter. At first, I fought it, but in time I realized it was what I needed... a time of rest, reflection, and quiet renewal. But lately, something has shifted. Even though the calendar says fall is fading into winter, I feel myself waking up again — ideas blooming, inspiration stirring, energy returning. It’s as if my inner spring has arrived early. Sometimes, we find ourselves out of rhythm with the outer world — and that’s perfectly okay. While some people love to start fresh in January, I’ve always felt my “new year” begins in November. It’s when my energy naturally returns, when new visions start to take shape. Nature may follow its own calendar, but our inner seasons don’t always align with it. We might be in full creative bloom while snow falls outside, or ready for rest when the world is bursting with summer activity. These inner seasons are part of our personal rhythm — and honoring them allows us to move through life with more ease and authenticity. This winter’s forecast — Chill, Snow, Repeat — feels like a metaphor for life right now. A mostly mild season filled with pockets of wild weather. Maybe that’s true for all of us right now. Some moments call for cozy reflection; others, for spontaneous bursts of creativity or action. So, instead of forcing yourself to fit the season you “should” be in, maybe this is a time to listen. What season are you in — and what season are you heading toward? Take a moment to notice your own rhythm. Are you resting, blooming, shedding, or growing? What would it look like to honor that — rather than resist it? Whether your spring comes in November or your new year begins in March, trust that you are always exactly where you need to be.
