Fresh Beginnings & Rhubarb Medicine

There’s something fascinating happening in my garden right now.

My rhubarb plant has started to flower. Not just a tiny bloom here and there, but tall, wild, intricate flowers reaching upward as if announcing...

Something new is ready to emerge.

And honestly? It stopped me in my tracks. Because lately, I’ve been feeling stuck in the middle with my medicine card project.  I have...

• Intuitive ideas. 
• Fragments.
• Symbols. 
• Messages. 
• Feelings. 
• Images that arrive out of nowhere.

But my mind keeps asking for a full roadmap before it allows me to move forward.
It wants certainty.
A game plan.
A perfectly mapped process.
And because I don’t have all the answers yet...

I’ve found myself hovering in that uncomfortable in-between space... wanting to create…but hesitating to begin.

Then the rhubarb flowers appeared. And what struck me most is this...

The plant didn’t wait until everything was figured out before blooming.

It simply responded to the season it was in. There’s a lesson in that. Sometimes growth doesn’t arrive as a perfectly organized strategy. Sometimes it arrives as a quiet inner nudge asking us to trust what’s unfolding before we can fully explain it. 

The flowers felt like medicine.

A reminder that perhaps it’s time to shed some outdated habits:

• needing certainty before taking action
• over-planning intuitive work
• believing creativity must arrive in a perfectly linear way
• waiting to feel “fully ready”

Maybe the next chapter isn’t asking for a rigid blueprint.
Maybe it’s asking for relationship.
Conversation.
Curiosity.
Trust.

The truth is, medicine cards aren’t meant to be forced into existence.

They are meant to be listened to. And maybe that’s where I’ve been getting tangled...

Trying to “manage” something that actually wants to emerge organically.

The rhubarb flowers reminded me that beginnings don’t always look polished. Sometimes they look...

• Wild.
• Unexpected. 
• Untamed. 
• Alive.

Maybe that’s what fresh beginnings really are.

Not a perfectly planned leap forward…
but a willingness to loosen our grip on old ways of creating.

To trust the season we’re in. To bloom before we fully understand the outcome. So, this week, I’m asking myself:

What wants to emerge if I stop trying to force the timing?
